Startup a Float Glass Furnace in Malaysia

Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. ("NSG") today started up a float glass furnace to increase the production capacity of its subsidiary in Malaysia, Malaysian Sheet Glass Sdn. Bhd. ("MSG"), in response to strong market demand in Asia.

After steadily expanding the sales and production of plate glass products since its commencement in 1971 until the Asian financial crisis in late 1990s, MSG has been operating only one float glass production line. Now an unused line in Johor Bahru was restarted and the commercial production is scheduled to begin mid April.

With this capacity increase as well as the new float glass plant in Vietnam announced last April, we will meet the demand from growing markets in Malaysia and other Asian countries and further improve our efficiency through closer cooperation among group companies.
